Kim Gladstone

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SPOTLIGHT

Kim Gladstone

Executive Director

Kim Gladstone spent twenty years in skilled nursing before coming to Spring Gardens Senior Living. She says she’s found her passion in assisted living.

“You really can make a difference,” she says. “You can help people thrive in the last years of their lives.”

Gladstone became the executive director of Spring Gardens Holladay right as the pandemic was starting. She was recently chosen as the Hero Award Winner at the Utah Assisted Living Association Conference.

“She is always willing to step in and help when people need help,” says Hailey Stevens, office manager at Spring Gardens Holladay. “She does so many things for the community that I don’t think people recognize or realize.”

Gladstone says one of her greatest accomplishments is that Spring Gardens Holladay has been Covid-free since the beginning of the pandemic. Gladstone credits the success to the commitment of every team member, resident and family member to all protocols. We were united,” Gladstone says. “We were going to do what we needed to do to keep Covid out of the building.”

This team mentality is a large part of the community feel at Spring Gardens Holladay. Featuring beautiful spaces and exceptional care, Spring Gardens Holladay is located in a small town at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. Gladstone makes sure every resident feels right at home, bringing joy and laughter to the community through parties, spirit weeks, holiday celebrations, and fun traditions.

“Our culture is like no other place out there — hands down,” says Gladstone. “We work hard and we play hard, too!”

She personally selects every new employee to make sure they will be a good fit for the culture of the community. She says the key question she asks herself before hiring someone is whether she would want that person to care for her family member. The result is a tight-knit community with very little employee turnover. Gladstone says she never wants to use agencies to fill positions, so she works to make sure every manager is cross-trained. Everyone helps out and fills in when needed.

“We are all just one big family and we truly care for each other,” Gladstone says. “We all pitch in when someone needs a little extra help.”

For those considering moving their loved one into assisted living, Gladstone suggests that family members come in and talk to residents and their family members. She often helps put potential residents in contact with current residents’ family members. She says she assures each family that their loved one will be well-cared for at Spring Gardens.

“We aren’t perfect, but we strive to do a really good job,” she says.

Kim was born and raised in Southern Alberta, Canada. When she’s not working, she loves being outside and spending time with her family, including cheering on her daughter who’s playing basketball at a university in Canada.
