All About Lindon, Utah

Lindon was settled in 1850 by Mormon pioneers. It was initially named Stringtown because the first homes were all built along one single road. The area was used mainly for fruit production and livestock.

In 1901, the local mail drop point was an old linden tree growing in the area. Community leaders petitioned the United States government to build a brick-and-mortar post office at that exact location. But as the story goes, the official paperwork returned from Washington, D.C., and was incorrectly labeled “Lindon,” not “Linden.” The spelling was never corrected, and the rest is history.

Living and Working in Lindon, Utah

Lindon City is a quiet suburban community located 45 minutes south of Salt Lake City and nestled at the base of beautiful Mount Timpanogos. Today’s economy has drastically shifted away from agriculture and livestock and towards more sizeable commercial development in the area.

But Lindon still has its small, hometown feel. The mayor and council members put a lot of effort into the community. The summer festival, Lindon Days, attracts community members each year in August and should not be missed. Events include concerts, athletic competitions, fireworks, picnics with family and friends, parades, amongst many, many more activities (click here).
