A longtime supporter of Cal State San Bernardino athletics, Baker, funded a significant academic scholarship. He donated a parcel of land, more than two acres, with the specific instructions to use for the community. In May 2013, the Baker Family Learning Center and fire station were built in Muscoy, where he lived as a boy. The community center is home to a public library and pre-school.
