As Coronavirus continues to change the way we work and live, it is more important than ever to seek out those in need and provide support. Volunteering is a great way to be of service to those who need it, and Avista is collaborating with justserve.org and Sixty+Me to offer more service projects that benefit our residents and communities.
Resident Wellbeing
As we have mentioned in a previous Coronavirus update, visitation to all of our communities has been restricted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the fact that the virus can have more serious effects on the elderly and immunocompromised, we are especially vigilant and committed to the safety of our residents and their families. This new situation has opened up the need for more volunteers at our communities to help enrich the lives of our residents and team members. Resident wellbeing is so important and you can help!
How You Can Help
Early this morning our leadership met with a senior specialist from justserve.org to discuss ways we can work together to increase volunteerism in our community. Justserve.org is a free tool to help connect those who want to volunteer with organizations that need volunteer help. Our senior living communities will be posting needs to be filled on the justserve.org website. We ask that those who are able lend a hand and enrich the lives of our residents and staff.
The volunteer work could be any number of things, from creating new 2020 calendars for residents to use, to writing letters of appreciation to our care staff. Many new ideas will be on the justserve.org website and we invite you to use that resource to serve where you are able. You may also contact the community near you directly for service opportunities.
What’s Next
We invite you to take some time and explore the justserve.org or Sixty+Me websites for opportunities near you. Justserve also has advanced search options to find service opportunities specifically for one of our communities. And of course, you are always welcome to reach out to the community nearest you directly for more information.
We appreciate all who are willing to lend a hand and brighten someone’s day during this trying time. As we band together during this crisis, we will come out stronger and better than before.
