El Cerrito was a tiny rural community nestled up to South Riverside. On July 13, 1896, South Riverside residents voted to include the town into the freshly established Riverside County. The residents sought to carve their own identity to the brand-new city by changing the name to Corona. El Cerrito is a census-designated place in Riverside County, California. It is an unincorporated area surrounded mainly by the town of Corona.
The people of Corona and El Cerrito were mainly of English and Irish descent. Still, Hispanics and Italians quickly came seeking work in the citrus fields.
Today El Cerrito’s heritage spans more than a century and has emerged as an ethnically diverse and highly educated community. The area boasts an incredible economy that gets stronger and stronger every day.

El Cerrito has a nice suburban feel. The Corona and El Cerrito community has more than 394 acres of parks, basketball courts, playgrounds, sports fields, tennis courts, two skateparks, and an outdoor pool that provide a first-rate quality of life for all its residents.

There are two different playgrounds for multiple abilities and different age groups. There are four baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis, and plenty of open fields to play in. Bring your friends and family for a barbeque under one of the lovely covered picnic areas for large parties.
And if you get a little overheated from playing your heart out, cool off at the drinking fountain and relax under the shade in one of the many covered sitting areas.
