Social

Social Wellness refers to the relationships we have and how we interact with others. Our relationships can offer support during difficult times. Social wellness involves building healthy, nurturing, and supportive relationships as well as fostering a genuine connection with those around you.

Many of us are a caregiver, either in our careers or in our personal lives. The stress and strain of caregiving can often leave you feeling like you have no time for yourself or friendships. Are you finding that you need ideas on how to care for yourself so that you can rejuvenate?

Physical

Physical wellness promotes proper care of our bodies for optimal health and functioning. There are many elements of physical wellness that all must be cared for together. Overall physical wellness encourages the balance of physical activity, nutrition, and sleep to keep your body in top condition. Do you want to learn more about healthy nutritional habits? Do you find it hard to “shut off” your brain and fall asleep? Or do you find it hard to have restful, uninterrupted periods of sleep?

Emotional

Emotional wellness is the ability to successfully handle life’s stresses and adapt to difficult times. How you feel can affect your ability to carry out everyday activities, your relationships, and your overall mental health. How you react to your experiences and feelings can change over time. Have you ever had weeks where you are working long hours with lots of demands from supervisors, leaving you to feel completely under pressure? A heaviness in your chest may settle in, and you may find yourself flushed and panicked. This is your body giving you a sign that you’re stressed and anxious.

  • Stress management skills
  • Emotion regulation & coping strategies
  • Mindfulness
  • Journaling techniques
  • Grounding and debriefing exercises

Career

Career wellness inspires us to prepare for work in which we will gain personal satisfaction and find enrichment in our life. Your attitude about work is a crucial influence on career development. Career wellness recognizes the importance of satisfaction, enrichment, and meaning through work. Ever feel like you are in a rut at work? We may lack the motivation to do the same tasks each day at our jobs and need new ways to excite us about our work.

Intellectual

Intellectual wellness encourages us to engage in creative and mentally stimulating activities. Intellectual wellness can be developed through academics, cultural involvement, community involvement, and personal hobbies. As intellectual wellness develops, you can develop personal resources that work together with the other realms of wellness to achieve a more balanced life. Contemplating going back to school and unsure where to begin? Or simply looking for ways to challenge yourself?

Environmental

Environmental wellness refers to what surrounds you each day in your home, work, or neighborhood, and how these elements can affect your health. You can’t always choose the environments you live, work, or play in. But taking small steps to make your environments safer and limiting your exposure to potentially harmful substances can help keep you healthier. Do you find spending time outdoors boosts your mindset and provides you with clarity?

  • Making your home and workplace healthier
  • Outdoor activities that boost your well-being

Financial

Financial wellness involves the process of learning how to successfully manage financial expenses. Money plays a critical role in our lives and not having enough of it impacts health as well as academic performance. Financial stress is repeatedly found to be a common source of stress, anxiety, and fear for the majority of adults. Keeping track of expenses, making a budget, and sticking to it are important skills to have to be financially responsible and independent. Learning how to maximize your financial wellness now will help you feel prepared to handle potentially stressful financial situations in the future. Have you recently had a change in income that has left you worried about how you will afford bills or food for your family?

Spiritual

Spiritual wellness allows us to be in tune with our spiritual selves. This realm of wellness lets us find meaning in life events and define our purpose. Spiritual wellness can be defined through various factors including religious faith, values, ethics, and morals. Regardless of whether you believe in a particular religious faith, there is always something to learn about how you see yourself in the world and the impact you can make.  Have you ever spent time volunteering for an organization and felt that it gave you a sense of purpose?
